WALTON, BILL "WILLIE" - Timely / Atlas, Standard / Better / Nedor

Bill “Willie” Walton was a former Timely Comics Employee, and an artist who worked on American comic books during the 1940s and 1950s. . He was on the Atlas/Marvel staff in the second half of the 1940s doing humor features. He later did art on war, crime and mystery titles for the company.He was a ghost artist and writer. A jack-of-all trades “do it all” guy who worked with the likes of Stan Lee and Syd Shores in the late 1940’s. After the 1949 Bullpen firing, he worked in the late 1940s and early 1950s at the Simon/Kirby Studio. He drew crime features as well as 'Bert and Sue' and 'Mr. Risk' for Ace Periodicals, 'Buck Ranger' and romance stories for Better Publications, stories for New Heroic Comics by Eastern Color Printing, romance stories for Feature Comics and horror for Fiction House. He was a regular on Lev Gleason's 'Black Diamond' as well as their crime titles in the first half of the 1950s. All this art came from the Walton estate Preview All Pieces On This Page
