Witchcraft #1 Published Jun 1994 by DC/Vertigo. Written by James Robinson, based on a story co-plotted by Alisa Kwitney, with art by Peter Snejbjerg. Painted covers by Michael Kaluta. A brutal murder in ancient Britain sets in motion a series of reincarnations that spans the centuries, as Mildred, Morganna and Cynthia, the Three Witches from the pages of THE SANDMAN, attempt to avenge the death of their priestess. With a framing sequence by Teddy Kristiansen.
1) the first issue focuses on Cynthia the Maiden, as the Three Witches attempt to help a medieval bride escape her marriage to a sorcerous killer. 2) Mildred the Mother takes center stage as the Witches continue their attempt to exact vengeance for a brutal murder. In Victorian England, a young Sir Richard Francis Burton learns the ways of sorcery and of life, but the path he chooses may not suit the Witches' purposes. 3) The Witches' quest for revenge comes to a bloody conclusion in modern-day London, where a child killer proves to be the key to a long cycle of reincarnation and death.
